We first acquaint customers who have come to us for our tailor-made linen curtains with the basic characteristics of flax, which is especially its beautiful natural appearance, antibacterial properties, breathability, but also its creasability and ability to absorb water.
These properties of linen have a major impact on how curtains and drapes made from linen need to be sewn. In our opinion, a curtain made of 100% linen should always lie a few centimeters on the ground. This underlines its casual crimped appearance.
Moreover, it is not possible to know in advance exactly how the linen will interact with humid conditions. At higher humidity, the linen curtain always stretches a little or, sometimes, even shrinks or retracts. In addition, due to the nature of the material, it is naturally a bit crumpled, so it is not possible to achieve an absolutely straight line above the floor.
If a client requires a curtain over the floor for any reason, for example due to floor heating, we would choose another material “a la len”.
